The will of the Lord be done

It would have been safer; financially more profitable, and an easier life if Dave and his family would have stayed in America……….

Acts 21:10-14           And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judea a certain prophet, named Agabus. And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and break mine heart? For I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the Name of the Lord Jesus. And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, the will of the Lord be done.

In the previous verses Paul is being told by the prophet that he was going to get in trouble if he went to do Gods work in Jerusalem. After hearing the word of the Lord, the believers begged Paul not to do what he had planned to do because they knew he would face a hardship if he continued. Pauls dedication to his God caused him to respond with a  statement that revealed what was in his heart; Why are you trying to stop me? It does not matter to me if my zeal for God gets me into trouble, in fact even if it means it will cost me my very life; I must go do the work of God!  Then when the believers saw that Paul could not be stopped, because he was determined to do all that he could for God; they responded by saying   ”The will of the Lord be done”.

It would have been safer; financially more profitable, and an easier life if Dave and his family would have stayed in America. They thought about it, they discussed it, they prayed; and concluded that they loved the people of Papua and Gods work to much to stay in America and take the easier path. Dave worked diligently and was willing to take risks so that he could serve the village people in the Name of Christ the Lord.

Revelations 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

For the honor and glory of Christ; will you and I do the same?

Jesus gave His life for us; He deserves nothing less from us.

Acts 20:22-24     And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: Except that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy
