Dave went to be with the Lord on August 9, 2008. He was as those in Acts 15:26 who were willing to risk their lives for the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Dave was flying by himself when his plane hit the top of a mountain in Papua (Indonesia). The cause of the accident appears to have been caused by a combination of clouds and wind currents that can be very dangerous in the mountainous terrains of Papua.

The Clapper family have been missionaries in Papua for the past 10 years. Dedicated to live for the glory of His Name; they have served Christ faithfully as a united family. The prayers of God's people are greatly appreciated as Beth and her five children look to Christ for comfort and strength.

A Man Sent From God
To multitudes in Papua, Dave was a man sent from God. As a pilot for AMA he was able to serve an estimated 70 villages.

Dave was respected by government officials. The common man loved him because of the respect that Dave gave them regardless of who they were. He loved the common man and was willing to risk his life to serve them. The remote villagers wept intensely when they heard the news of his passing.

Few people really knew of Dave's dedication and total surrender to do all that he could possibly do to help the Papua people. Dave lived his life before his God and awoke each day to serve the people without needing to be recognized by man. Read More

Dave was a man of vision and was troubled by circumstances or people that would hinder him from going far beyond his call of duty. At times he would have 20 or more landings in a day. As a man sent from God he lived his life with a purpose. He could not be stopped.

Dave worked while others played. He took risks that many of us would never dare to take. He flew into village airstrips that most would not. He flew when it would have been wiser not to. He placed His faith in God and never took flight without first talking to his God.

Dave was focused as a man with a mission that must be accomplished. He was intense and at times misunderstood. He got frustrated when people encouraged him to slow down. His response was "what are we here for? We are here to serve aren't we!" He walked as a man sent from God.

Dave was as Christ who was willing to give His life for the benefit of others. He was not foolish. Dave was skilled. He was wise. He was one of the best pilots. Dave loved his family and taught them the ways of God. He loved everyone, that's why he could not be stopped.

Dave took off from the village of Taiyeve Dua and landed in heaven. He has no regrets! He died a hero!

Dave has eternal life in Jesus Christ!
